You're Here

Unfathomable to me at this point in my life is the fact that God would entrust me with a new little girl. As tiny as Reese is, she is completely dependent on my wife and I for food, comfort, sleep, warmth, love, and the list goes on. When I think about me being responsible for this little girl, I'm shocked a little sometimes.

However, what's even more unfathomable to me is that God sent His one and only Son to this earth; not in the form of a rich ruler, or a powerful King, or a popular man of society, but God sent Jesus to us in the same form that my little girl was born just 2 months ago. Jesus was fully dependent on His mother and earthly "father" for food, comfort, sleep, warmth, love....etc.

And imagine Mary, being just a young teenage girl, not only giving birth to a baby at her young age, but giving birth to the King of Kings, Jesus! That is pretty heavy when you think about it. But God in His sovereignty does amazing things and holds the master plan, which paved the way for Jesus Christ!

This past Sunday at Harvest we celebrated Christmas and Brooke and Andrea Griffith sang a song called, "You're Here." The song is by Francesca Battistelli and gives the perspective of Mary looking on her little boy...JESUS.

Hope you enjoy!

HOLIDAY UPDATE

Hey Everyone,

It has been a little while since I've posted and for that I apologize. It is a busy time of year, and with the little one being in my life now, the busy time has gotten even busier! I hope you all had a great thanksgiving and are doing well as we prepare for Christmas.

I am beginning to feel a refueling in my life and I am leaning into it at this moment praying that over the Christmas season, God will ignite a bigger and greater flame within me for Him and His calling in my life. I am excited to start the new year and watch Him work in the life of my family, and in my church, Harvest Bible Chapel in Granger IN.

Stick with me and I will be updating the blog a little more regularly in the weeks to come....so the plan is. Nicole, Reese, and I plan to go home to Pittsburgh, PA to visit with family over the holiday and are excited to relax and refuel. I have some blog posts in my head that I am excited to share with you within the next few weeks so stay tuned.

I challenge you in this busy time, as I am challenging myself...BE IN GOD's WORD during this season. It is so easy to get wrapped up in all that Christmas has become, but God's Word is always and only that which will sustain life and joy in Christ Jesus. Be saturated in it and meditate on it everyday.

We have been going through a series at Harvest called "God Wrote A Book," speaking of the importance of the Bible. This past week, Trent challenged the congregation to "Eat More Bible!" When we eat something, we digest it. With God's Word we need to take it in, then meditate on it, letting it nourish us. The Word does spiritually for us, what food does physically. We can always do better in our Bible time, and I want to get more intentional, especially in this busy season. There is no room for slacking, because that means the busy season is becoming more important than the priority of God's Word. I challenge you to dig deep into the truths of God's Word, and apply them!

God is Good and Jesus Christ is the ultimate and only reason for celebration this season. As gifts are given and money is spent, respond to the blessing of those things in divine worship to our gracious King who gives all good things! He is worthy!
